For quality interpretation services, you can trust the team at ABCO International Translators and Interpreters. We work with clients and businesses in Toronto and around the world to provide both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation services in over 150 languages.
Consecutive interpretation services are commonly used for the courts, hearings, depositions, examination for discovery, tour guides, medical examinations, or business meetings. The procedure for consecutive interpretation is for the speaker to speak two or three sentences in the source language and then pause. The interpreter then translates the sentences into the target language and relays it to the other person.
Using simultaneous interpretation, many languages can be translated at the same time through the use of radio headphones. We rent IR or FM receivers and transmitters as well as walk-in or desktop sound booths for simultaneous interpretation. The procedure for simultaneous interpretation is to have the interpreter sit in a sound booth so as to remove any external noise. Audio from the conference speaker is relayed to the interpreters and they will interpret, translate and narrate the conversation as they are listening to it. The voice of the interpreter is transmitted from the sound booth to all the meeting participants, and those of the meeting participants that wish to hear the language of that interpreter will simply change the channel of their multi-channel headphones.
We perform consecutive and simultaneous interpretation in a number of settings, including:
